Project Re-Evaluation Update
Since the April 2006 public meeting, the Consultant Team together with PennDOT,
the Lancaster County Planning Commission and the Federal Highway Administration
are working to determine which alternatives will be studied in detail in the
Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS). This determination will be
based on the ability of the alternative to meet the identified transportation
needs, engineering and traffic considerations, costs, environmental and community
impacts, the ability of the alternative to satisfy land use and community goals, and on input
from the public. In addition to the NEPA EIS process, PennDOT and the Lancaster County Metropolitan Planning Organization are working on long range planning issues and how the project can possibly be funded with so many other infrastructure needs.
